Objective
Give children and teenagers access to purified water at school by installing water purification systems with chilled drinking fountains, and reduce gastrointestinal illness, childhood diabetes and obesity.
Project design
We will install water purification systems with chilled drinking fountains. We will also create a water committee with the principal, teachers, parents and students, who will oversee the equipment and organize events to promote the efficient use of water.
Every classroom will receive training on caring for water and using it efficiently.
The school custodian will also be trained on how the purification system works and how to handle minor problems.
The school will be responsible for maintenance costs.
All of these activities will be carried out in each school.
Beneficiaries
- Direct beneficiaries: 8,400 children and teenagers
- Indirect beneficiaries: 25,200 family members
